Music discovery · iPhone
One tap. Someone new. And why.
Spotlight finds one artist or song you'd never reach by scrolling, and tells you why it's worth your time.
Why Spotlight
Most music never reaches a chart. Spotlight goes looking for it.
Charts and popularity-first feeds keep showing the same names. Spotlight is built the other way round: to give overlooked artists and songs a real chance to be found.
And it stays useful when you already know a lot. Deep genres, local scenes, countries and eras, combined however you like.
The idea
A find is a doorway, not a dead end.
- 01
Discover
Tap once. Spotlight lands on one artist or song you don't know yet, with a short preview to hear right away.
- 02
Understand
Every find comes with the reason it's here: why it fits you, or plainly that it was random. Never a made-up one.
- 03
Explore further
Follow it into the artist's story, their scene, their city and their era, and on to whoever comes next.
One at a time
Not a feed. A moment.
No endless scroll and no wall of thumbnails. You ask, and Spotlight answers with one. Keep it, pass on it, or ask again.
Everything it shows you stays in your history, so nothing slips away, even the one you forgot to save.
Artist · For You
Nami Fields
Soft piano loops and field recordings, close to the ambient you saved, from a city you haven't explored yet.
Three ways to ask
Close to home, a step away, or anywhere at all.
- Mode 1
For You
Close to your taste, never the obvious names. It starts from what you pick and learns from what you save.
- Mode 2
Explore
A deliberate step past what you know. You choose how far it goes.
- Mode 3
Random
Truly random. No taste, no filters, nothing weighted. When it's random, the result says so.
Depth on demand
One tap, or as deep as you like.
Newcomers press one button. Experts narrow it down by genre, scene, country and era, in any order, and start a Spotlight right there.
Spotlight never quietly widens what you asked for. If nothing fits, it tells you.

Lean back. Previews play one after another, each a small step from the last.
Crate
Ten records from artists you haven't met. A new crate arrives every Friday.
Principles
Honest by design.
- Discovery is freeEvery Spotlight, Drift, Crate and Explore page, for everyone.
- No one can pay to be pickedNot artists, not labels. What you find is never an ad.
- No ads, no trackersSpotlight doesn't sell or share what you listen to.
- Reasons are realEvery “why” comes from what Spotlight actually knows. If it isn't sure, it leaves it out.
- New artists get a real chanceEmerging artists are part of every search, not an afterthought.
- Full songs, the right wayPreviews come from Apple Music. The whole song opens in Apple Music or Spotify.
