Privacy policy

Before launch

Spotlight isn't on the App Store yet. This policy describes how the app will work when it launches. If anything changes before then, this page will be updated first.

What Spotlight keeps

• Your taste: the genres you pick, and the ones Spotlight learns from what you save.
• Saved and history: the artists and songs you keep, and what each Spotlight showed you.
• Your choices: results you hid with “Not for me”, your Fine-tune picks and your settings.
• Your pass: its progress, counted from the discoveries you kept.
• If you sign in (in a later version): your name and email from Apple, Google or the address you give. With Sign in with Apple you can hide your email.

Spotlight keeps these to find your next artist or song, and for nothing else.

Where it lives

• As a guest, everything stays on your phone. Nothing is sent to us.
• Signed in (in a later version), it's stored on Spotlight's servers so it can follow you to your other devices.

What Spotlight never does

• No ads.
• No selling or sharing your information.
• No tracking you across other apps or websites, and no third-party trackers in the app.

Music from other services

• Previews come from Apple Music. Playing one asks Apple for that preview, and Apple's privacy policy covers that request.
• “Listen in full” opens Apple Music or Spotify. What you do there is covered by their privacy policies.

Children

Spotlight isn't made for children under 13, and it doesn't knowingly collect their information. Where the law requires it, Spotlight reads the age range your App Store shares, uses it only to follow that law, and then discards it. Explicit songs are labeled.

This website

This site uses no cookies, no analytics and no trackers, and its fonts are served from this site. Our host, Cloudflare, keeps standard server logs to keep the site running and secure.

Your choices

• Change or remove your taste anytime in Profile.
• Clear your history in Profile.
• Delete my data (as a guest) or Delete account (signed in), in Profile under Privacy, deletes everything right away. Nothing is kept.

Changes

If anything important changes, Spotlight will tell you in the app before it takes effect, and the date at the top of this page will change.
